The pen-ultimate race of the Road Championship saw eight Harriers give it their all on the challenging 13 Arches Trail half marathon on Sunday. It was an early start (9.30am) and conditions were cool and misty but pretty good underfoot.
First Harrier home was Jo Bishop who ran a crackin’ race at a beltin’ pace. Taking full advantage of the good surface on the cycle path and making short work of the hills when they appeared, Jo finished third female overall and 1st in her age category in 1:44:18. Not a bad morning’s work and consolidates her lead in the Club Championship with 5 wins!
Second lady home was Helen Mutch with her first Road Championship race of the season, ahead of Christine Clapworthy in third, also completing her first Road Championship this season.
Our first man home was Steve Bibby in 1:49:48, this takes him to within a point of 3rd place in the Club Championship with one race to go – nail biting stuff!
Second man home was Dean Clapworthy who has now completed his 5 races and has fairly shot up the table to 6th position. Our third man was Michael Wild in a season’s best of 2:00:51.
Well done everyone who completed this surprisingly testing course which included no less than 7 bridge crossings!
