The Langdale Horseshoe is a classic Lakeland fell race and the FRA entries site says it all: The race is over a rough, tough course with almost exclusively rocky and slippy ground. The weather in October is rarely ‘pleasant’ and the fells are often clagged in, making navigation difficult on a course with many pathless sections and no route waymarking. This race is only suitable for experienced fellrunners.
What better way for our own Stuart Litster and Ashley McCabe to end an amazing season on the Moors and Fells than by competing in this little beauty!
The weather, like the terrain was challenging and wet weather gear was a must. This was no impediment to our dauntless competitors who both ran superb races with Stuart finishing 1st of the “Run The Moors” competitors and 49th overall and Ash 7th in “Run The Moors” and 129th overall.
The excellent Langdale results translated into points and Stuart finished the RTMFGP in 3rd overall position and 1st in age group, completing all 11 events and dropping only 2 points!
Ash finished the series in 17th overall and 5th in his age category.
