Hale 10K: Let the Championship Commence

The 2025 Road Championship season got off to a brilliant start on Saturday with a total of 23 Harriers travelling down to Hale to take part in the Hale 10K. This was the first time this event has featured in the Middleton Road championship and the course was very much an unknown quantity. After a busy start our 13 men and 9 ladies got into their rhythm and got to grips with a generally flat, fast course with just a few short, gentle ascents over the railway and river.

First Harrier home was Jordan Hughes making a welcome return to Championship racing and getting a PB by my reckoning, in a time of 34:38 (chip), 27th MOPN. The next Harrier home was John Bell but sadly had no club vest and couldn’t be counted in a PB time of 35:15. Second man home was Andy Smith in 33:33 from Leon Wint in 37:42 another PB!

The Ladies were led home by Helen Mutch in a time of 48:37, from Faye Aydin with a PB of 50:53 and Debbie Sheen gaining a 3rd in her age F55 category in a time of 51:03. Congratulations to our other category podium finishers, Teresa Hollins winning the F70+ and Fiona Bolton with a 3rd in the F65 Category.
