Well the 17th year of this race proved to be the usual hot summer’s day with day time temperatures up to 26 degrees. Fortunately a bit of cloud cover and a fresh breeze made it a bit more manageable by the evening.
A good sized field started from outside the church hall and soon got spread out on the uphill road section before turning off into the woods and the long steady 1st climb. Several twists and turns made the ascent to the trig point a real challenge before swinging out over the moor to arrive at the tricky descent before the final sting in the tail around the quarry.

An interesting video of the finish on YouTube shows just how close it was for the first 2 men who had the same time. The ladies were rather more spread out but some excellent individual runs recorded.
Feedback from the runners highlighted the well marked and marshalled course, the chip timing with immediate printed individual results, good refreshments, prizes for first 3 in each 5 year category and of course the infamous raffle.
One competitor unfortunately got too dehydrated and was generously helped by another runner and spectator before Oldham Mountain Rescue Team took over and got her safely off the hill. True fell running spirit in action.
So many people help to put on races like this and we thank each and every one.
